Sandhya-Aarti

Aarti is simply thanksgiving. Humans thank the Lord for giving us the pancha Bhuta (air, fire, water, akash, etc) that underlies creation.

Aarti is said to have descended from the Vedic Concept of fire rituals, or homa . The word may also refer to the traditional Hindu Devotional song that is sung during the rituals. Aarti is performed and sung to develop the highest love for God.”Aa” means “towards or to” and “rati” means “right or virtue” in sanskrit.(PU. Swarupswami)

We perform 7 aartis a day as per vaidik tradition. All the aartis are bestowed with the heartfelt sentiments of devoting everything to the supreme power. Among those seven, Sayam-aarti is mesmeric. Having done darshan of the unique aarti, one feels sheer godliness. Divine offerings presenting special significance are devotedly offered to The Lord. It includes the following offerings: towel , spray , mirror , flower garland , sun & moon darshan , music instruments , shankh , dhoop sticks , tulsi plant , dhal – talwar etc.
