Nagar-yatra

One of the most colorful events, not less than any grand festival is  the procession of Neelkanth Prabhu, that takes place here every eve.  The very objective of the procession is hidden beneath the endless mercy of the Lord. As devotees go for Darshan of God in the temple, Lord himself aspires to have darshan of pilgrims and comes out of temple.

On the holy pathway of the procession sacred water and pearls are being sprinkled first and the whole procession follows that. Colourful Rangolies of Swastik-sign are drawn on the path-way to welcome The supreme Godhead. A chariot of Garudji heads the entire procession as Garudji is considered as a CHARIOTEER of The Lord. Neelkanth Prabhu sits on a grand royal, well-adorned chariot named ‘Neelkanth chariot” which is constructed in the shape of a temple. Another auxiliary chariot named “Swing Chariot” possesses murti of Bal Ghanshyam Prabhu. It follows the main chariot. Pilgrims pulls the rope tied to chariot in order to head The godhead. Their inner prayer is something like, “ O Lord, I will lead your chariot and you please lead the chariot  of my life”.

Tulsiji, Shaligram Bhagwan and  Narmada Devi too joins the procession to enhance the glory of Lord Narayan.

There is a huge army of canons, decked cows, horses, elephants, flags, musicians accompanying ear-pleasing music, and so on the list goes.. It also has a troupe of saints singing devotional songs to the accompaniment of musical instruments.. Hundreds of youths, teenagers and children adorned in traditional Indian costumes added spice to the grand event. There are five aaratis altogether getting offered throughout the procession. Never before had the world has seen something as colorful and joyous as the procession at Neelkanth Dham.

The very purpose of the procession is that Neelkanth Prabhu goes round the entire campus for patrolling as he cares his subjects the most.
