Pujya Guruvarya Shree Devkrushndasji Swami is an embodiment of Vairagya. Swami was born as Devjibhai Kaila in the Vejalpar village to parents Javerbhai and Parvatiben Kaila. In the year 1960 he was admitted to the Gurukul for his schooling, during which he developed affection for Pujya Shastriji Maharaj and the Gurukul. His life itself is his message. No one on the earth would have seen him desiring anything for ownself. He is situated at such a spiritually heightened state that worldly pleasures are just flesh and trash for him. Such a detachment from luxuries and self-comfort was inherent to his existence from early childhood. Moreover, his is a steadfast heart who doesn’t deviate from the path. Till today, his plain life, detachment, and devotion are intact. Being a head of more than 250 saints, millions of followers, more than 40 organizations he sleeps on the ground. No bed, no special bathroom, no speciality in dining, no protocol or pre-appointment for darshan and more importantly, never did he think of himself being a Guru and felt proud of that. All the saints of the Swaminarayan sect and many others witness to the true sainthood of Gurumaharaj.    

He leads through his life and seeing that, many spiritual-aspirants sacrificed their lives to the path of renunciation. He is a sky full of virtues. One of his prominent virtues is highlighting other’s virtues and leaving aside their faults. He himself is avid reader and a great writer. He is a writer of more than…………….books,  written on morality, spirituality and ethical values. His preaching style is unique and impressive too! Most say “When words flow out of his mouth, the pearls of heaven fade down”. He preaches in a unique and aphoristic (sutratmak) way which leaves a heart-melting effect on listeners. 

After completing his B.A., he took Bhagavati Deeksha (initiation) from Acharya Shri Narendraprasadji Maharaj, of the Lakshminarayan Dev Gadi of Vadtal in the year 1965. In the year 1974, seeing his sainthood oozing with all divine attributes and striking management skills, reins of the organization were handed over to him.

Being situated at the topmost position of a worldwide reputed organization, he has no sense of self-centeredness. He is a sheer altruistic.  No sense of Being considered special. No special advantages.  He has got a keen interest in all sorts of social welfare activities of the Gurukul. Pu. Guru Maharaj is a strong admirer of traditional value systems and the spiritual heritage of Hinduism. Being kind and generous, he has contributed a lot to veterinary aids and environmental care. He encourages everyone to plant more trees . Swami can be seen reading scriptures and doing mantralekhan when not engaged in Gurukul’s activities.

Pujya Swamiji currently oversees all the educational, social and religious activities of  Swaminarayan Gurukul Rajkot Sansthan and its branches in India, USA, UK, Canada, Africa and the Dominican Republic.

Kind and generous, loving and compassionate, ruling the hearts of millions through his unearthly glow, Pu. Gurudev has bestowed peace and the bliss of the  God to innumerable devotees. Many aspirants have reached the highest spiritual state, and today, many others continue to tread this path. 

Indeed, he is a lighthouse, boats are we!
