Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Rajkot Sansthan ( SGRS )
The most pre-eminent Lord Shri Swaminarayan, has gifted to the mankind, the essence of all the scriptures in the form of Shikshapatri. For the benevolence of the entire human race, Bhagwan Himself had preached to spread the true education on the earth, which He has considered as a great noble deed. Only a saint with pure and pious heart can perceive God’s commands as they are. H.H. Gurudev Shastriji Maharaj Shri Dharmajivandasji Swami was such a great saint. He decided to materialize this command of God. At the dawn of the independence of our country, He pioneered Shri Swaminarayan Gurukul, in the year of 1948 in Rajkot, Gujarat (India).
The Guru-Shishya tradition is the unique feature of Sanatana Dharma, otherwise known as Hinduism. The knowledge, capacity, virtues, ideologies, values and objectives of life are directly received by the disciple from the Guru in a practical, personal and vibrant manner. The vision of Guru becomes the life and mission of Shishya. In such a divine lineage of Guru parampara of Swaminarayan Sect, appeared Shatriji Maharaj Shree Dharmajivandasji Swami.
He was a great guru, the fifth spiritual successor in Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s succession of Gunatit gurus, was born in a farmer’s family on 18th June, 1901, the auspicious day of the Rathayatra of Shree Jagannath Bhagawan of Puri, in the Taravada village of Amreli District in Gujarat, India and was named as Arjan. He was very brilliant and studious. He had natural inclination for spiritual learning and reading of religious scriptures. However, during his adolescent years, he was attracted to the pure life of Saint Shree Balmukundadasji Swami, Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s third spiritual successor. This created a spiritual fire in his heart and a calling in his soul that shaped the journey for the rest of his divine life.
At the tender age of 16, he renounced the world and was initiated as Dharmajeevandasjiswami. His marked truthfulness, noble services, saintliness and selfless desire to help all, won him the love of everyone. He was a great versatile scholar and man of vision, a tough minded optimist and kind hearted Guru, a staunch advocate of Karma and Bhakti yoga and considered to be the Saint of the century by thousands of people of the cosmos.
Inshort, he was less of a man, and more of an angle.
Pu. Swamiji has revived our ancient Gurukul Culture to spread true education with religious virtues. The socio-spiritual organization is spread over across the globe, having more than forty centers all together. We have well-equipped modern schools to impart practical education enriching students’ virtuous and flamboyant personality in society.
